Avocado – more than a trend
Avocado – I remember the first time i tasted an avocado… it was an odd texture and a flavor that my palate needed to acquire. That first bite did not deter me… a little salt, or mashed into guacamole and wow… loved it. And in fact we buy avocados on a regular basis these days. This noble fruit from Mexico has become a staple in breakfast menus, mexican food, and salads…. and so much more. But did you know some of the benefits of Avocado which include soap?
The search is always on to find natural ingredients to enhance, and provide healthy soap products. A number of our customers asked us to research a facial soap that would moisturize dry facial skin. Indeed our face is always exposed to the elements, and as we get older our facial skin tends to dry out. In our research we discovered how amazing Avocados are, not just to eat, but to use in beauty products. Avocado oil contains a high percentage of Vitamin E, as well as potassium, lecithin, and many other nutrients which can nourish and moisturize your skin. The oleic acid found in high concentration in avocados also promotes collagen production, which helps grow new skin. This accelerates the healing process, helping with issues like sunburn. Avocado also improve skin elasticity.
Our answer is a moisturizing gentle soap made from Avocado pulp and avocado oil. Our Avocado Facial Bar also has several exotic and highly moisturizing oils like Babbasoul and Argan oil both from North Africa. The essential oils scenting this soap are Lime EO, Pink Grapefruit EO, Lavender EO, Sweet Basil EO, and Litsea Cubiba EO.
***A side note of caution when buying Avocados – please avoid buying any labeled with “apeel” as this is a chemical treatment that stops the natural ripening process. The chemical is actually a neurotoxin, and while this is a recent development in the food industry the initial thought is to avoid this chemical completely. We will never buy avocados that are spray coated with this chemical blend.
