Silk cocoons are formed at the final stage of the life of silk worms. They produce cocoons measuring approximately 2 inches in length by 1 inch diameter and are either white or yellowish. I dye the cocoons in fiber reactive dye, the specific color is my own blend. Once dry the cocoons are cut into desired shape, and coated with a clear acrylic coat. I stitch in the pearls or beads, add silver findings and ear wires and they are ready for wear.
