Product Details

Visit our studio in the ArtCraft Building and create your own wearable piece of art in the form of a painted silk scarf. All play days are held at 2530 Superior Ave #402 Cleveland Ohio (This is the ArtCraft Building). Our studio can accommodate 6 people per session. The cost is $ 49.00 which covers all supplies to paint 1 piece of silk measuring 11"x60". You may draw your own design and bring It with you for the class, or use my patterns. Space is limited and this fills up quickly. I have a good selection of patterns to choose from.

The plan for the class is :

10 am: meet and greet, distribute supplies

10:15-noon: select design, begin resist application

noon-1p: lunch break

1-4p silk on frame, painting, ironing

The studio will provide beverages (water/coffee/tea) as well as either soup or a big salad. You are welcome to bring snacks to share with everyone. Please let me know if you have any food allergies.

The process: the process is known as Serti method, or French Resist. White blank silk is placed on top of the drawing. Gutta resist is applied to the silk, tracing the pattern beneath. The silk is placed on a frame, paint is applied. Once painted the silk is removed from the frame and ironed to set color and fuse resist as a permanent part of the design.

Please note: it is possible to create a scarf in 8hours, however the pattern should be more simple. That said, should you see to need more time we can set that up at another mutually agreeable time.
