Soap Making 101

Cold Processed Soap Basics : March 4th, 2017  10am to 2pm  total of 4 hours

During this class students will learn the following:

  • History of Soap Making
  • Safety precautions
  • Overview of Equipment
  • Silicone vs making your own molds
  • The Base Oils
  • Using Lye
  • Essential vs Fragrant Oils
  • The process
  • Curing
  • Packaging

This is a hands on class, and as part of the class fee you will be provided the following:

  • Gloves
  • Goggles
  • Mask

The class will learn about the process, the ingredients, equipment and safety precautions and then will make a batch of soap.  Students will also develop a packaging or labeling for wrapping the soap.  You will go home with a 2 pound loaf of soap which will need to be cut within 1 week, and cured for several weeks.  We will also discuss wrapping and packaging the soap.

Cost:  $45.00  and please bring an apron or smock.
