Discover Our Spa Series: Cardamom & Tonka Bean Soap

Sounds like it should be a childhood rhyme, but alas it is our latest creation of soap. A lovely light green colored bar of soap with the amazing soft spicy scent of cardamom ( which is a green pod spice). The description given by our supplier of the scent is this:

“Sheer jasmine and cypress leaf rise through a base of dry cedar—clean, green, and quietly intriguing.  Hints of warm spice & amber”
We are working on a series of soap we are titling “the spa series”. Each of these scent profiles are elegant, refined, and tranquil with hints of familiarity. This one offers a delicious hint of that lesser known spice called cardamom. I asked google what cardamom is used for and this was the reply:

Cardamom is a highly aromatic spice, commonly used in chai, curries, and baked goods, that offers significant health benefits, including lower blood pressure, reduced inflammation, improved digestion, and better oral health. Rich in antioxidants like cineole and limonene, it aids in detoxification, supports immune function, and may help manage blood sugar levels.

So the next question is what is tonka bean and how is it used.

A glass jar tipped over, spilling black seeds onto a wooden surface, with a cork lid nearby.

Tonka beans offer benefits like relaxation, antioxidant effects, and digestive aid, however is controversial as something to consume. Tonka beans aroma is popular in perfumes and cosmetics for its warm, vanilla-like scent.

The soap formula also includes white kaolin clay, which is a natural detox of skin pores.
