The Purpose Behind Our Soap Business: A Community Connection

Today’s Meet the maker challenge asks “who is it for?”

The answer is easier listed out than explained:

A woman in a red hoodie and a man in a blue plaid shirt stand together, smiling in an indoor market setting with display backdrops in the background.
  1. Our work, and our business is for us. We are both retired from corporate America, and the business keeps us in a routine, keeping regular hours at the studio as well as staying out there in the public space. The secondary component is the financial aspect – keeping a revenue stream going.
  2. Its for our customers – We have developed a loyal following and we love that the soap has been so well received by our customers.
  3. We also view our intention of the business is to develop and encourage community. We are old enough to remember that our parents knew their local businesses – the butcher, the baker, the barber, etc… And we strive to develop a comfortable space in our tent at art fairs, and in our studio.

Bottom line is that the business gives us purpose, helps us stay out there in the community and provides a nice retirement revenue stream.
