I am writing this post to challenge you to grow a garden…. Plant tomato’s, or have a pot of rosemary on the balcony. As we watch the world and its ever changing chaos one thing that seems very clear is that the cost of food and the ready supply of it may be changing. I just read an article about the impact of this conflict and the straight of Hurmuz. Apparently needed supplies departing that region that will be fertilizer for growers is both growing in cost and becoming scarce.
I started seeds of varieties of tomatos and peppers i want to try this year. I am plotting and planning the garden with precautions being taken from the dreaded lantern bugs that plagued us last year. There is nothing better than that first fresh ripe tomato. Often it never makes it into the house – i wash it with the hose and eat it like an apple. My favorite thing is to take scissors and a basket to the garden to pick fresh herbs for dinner. Fresh rosemary for my chicken dish, or parsley for the boiled potatoes – so fresh, and the best thing is i know how i grew them – chemical free, with much love.
A few pots set in a place where there is good sun, and ample water and you have an amazing resource. If you have more space consider using grow bags that are able to nurture bigger plants like tomatos, carrots, and peppers. I even grow potatos in them and get a great harvest.
