What is my favorite season?

What is your favorite season of year? Why?

The answer has changed over the years. As a child I love the summer because I could run barefoot and swim and enjoy the sunshine. As I approached my 20s and 30s I would say fall or autumn was my favorite because it got cooler and the colors What’s the foliage were brilliant. These days my passion is Summer. There’s something very special about being barefoot in The Garden watching my produce grow. The smells of the plants, and the sounds of the birds and bees humming about while sensing that warm sun is healing. It’s a break from city life, and dense urban living.

Sunshine is very important to health. And the best sun is early morning summer sun.

Now in all fairness each season has its wonder…..the first blush of autumn color, apple picking and pumpkins…I can still smell the scent of cooking apples for sauce…. My kitchen is a hub of activity putting up canning, making jams, and pickles.

And winter is my least favorite because it is so cold. That first snowfall is majestic as the blanket of white covers everything. And my kitchen is filled with the smell of roasts and soups.

And spring brings a new sense of hope as the earth comes to life with green sprouts, and early flowers. It’s a welcome relief to the cold dark winter.

But it’s summer that is my favorite… growing a garden and living for that first ripe tomato, or a garden salad freshly picked from the garden. Bring on summer!
