Failure?
How has a failure, or apparent failure, set you up for later success?
Failure is something we have been trained to believe is evil and bad. But the truth is life has a learning curve and sometimes the greatest lessons come thru what looks like failure.
One of the greatest lessons of failure was my naive lack of knowledge of people , especially shop keepers. We put our soap and silk scarves in a lovely gallery on the east side. Visions of a successful run faded quickly when communication cut off and we were left for a few months wondering how our products were faring. Then it came. An email demanding we schedule a time to meet her spiritualist to have our shockers read in order to remain in the shop. We told her we would stop and collect our things. There was a 4 month old check left with our things.
The thing is we were just selling soap, not in a deep relationship with her. It was a failure, but we learned to discern people better.
And we both have taken it slow putting our work in shops.
