Benefits of French Green Clay for Skin

A small dish containing a mound of green powdered substance, with scattered granules around its base, set against a bright background.

French Green Clay also sometimes sold as Sea Clay is by far one of the most majestic, most effective, and most commonly used mineral skin clays found throughout our global community.
French Green Clay (AKA Illite Clay or Sea Clay) contains a bounty of valuable elements, which include montmorillonite, several (up to 9) important mineral oxides, magnesium, calcium, potassium, dolomite, silica, manganese, phosphorous, silicon, copper, and selenium. Green clay owes its coloration to 2 very important factors, which ultimately decide a good quality clay from a poor quality clay. They are, iron oxides, and decomposed plant matter…..Yes, that is correct, decomposed plant matter. The natural green tones found in this luxurious clay are from the very cycles of life this earth uses to regenerate itself. Color matters – the clay should be very green, rather than gray to take advantage of all of the minerals and metals of the clay. Recent research suggests this clay may be helpful for the treatment of rosacea and eczema – but we are still reading more to determine the validity of the statement. We re careful to never make medical claims – soap is soap.

How does it work?
Unlike other clays where key elements work in symbiosis off of each other, French Green contains several elements which act as their own “body”. In French Green Clay, each element is responsible for working the outer epidermis (skin) in its own way and in dispensing their biological constituents as best as possible.

How is it manufactured?
French Green Clay is quarry mined from deposits that can range anywhere from 100 feet to several thousand feet deep. This depends on the health and vitality of the land it is on and how far a producer will have to go to find the right clay with the right color and consistency.
From here it is mined and brought out into the sun to remove excess water and moisture and to make it easier to work with. Now begins the final transformation…it gets heavily milled (ground) with huge hydraulic crushers and then micronized (finely pulverized) with more micromanaged, fine mesh equipment. After it is processed, it is laid out in the sun one more time to dry in hopes of removing the final amounts of moisture.

What are we doing with French Green Clay?

French Green Clay Facial Bar – Back in 2015 we began to make a facial bar from the French green clay for some of our friends with teenagers suffering from acne. When French Green Clay is used in soap making it adds a natural light green coloration, but the more important thing is the molecular structure of the clay absorbs oil, dirt, toxins from pores of the skin. The clay is rich in mineral oxides, magnesium, calcium, potassium dolomite, silica copper and selenium. All of that makes for a power house facial bar which we cold process using a blend of aloe butter, coconut oil, olive oil, castor, sodium hydroxide, the clay and essential oils of orange and cedarwood. The soap offers a rich lather and a gentle clean. The aroma is fresh, leaving your skin feeling invigorated. Each bar is a 3″ circular bar weighing 4 oz.

Bar of soap labeled 'Sophisticated Man Soap' by Images In Bloom, featuring a decorative packaging with patterns.

The Sophisticated Man Soap is our newest use of French green clay. The soap was a light green bar with a scent of bergamot and rose with a spice undertone.   Interestingly enough we had a bottle of fragrant oil that matched the scent and sophisticated man was created. Our soap utilizes plant based oils and lye, and essential oil to create a soft and gentle soap for your skin. Lathers well. Each bar is individually wrapped in a light wax paper wrapper, then it is banded with the label. We love the way our packaging keeps the bar wrapped until you want to use it. You can smell the soap through the packaging.

We are always researching new ways to use great ingredients… stay tuned for more new products soon.
