Eco-Friendly Shampoo Bars: A Clean Alternative

Over the last few years our customers began asking us to make a shampoo bar. There were a number of reasons given, all of which made us pay attention.

  • Bar soap would eliminate needless plastic . The world is filling up with tons of trash pollution of plastic bottles and our customers express their concern to reduce this issue.
  • Bar soaps do not come into contact with plastic and would not leech plastic into the shampoo
  • Bar soaps does not have all the chemicals such as silicone in the formula. The formula is a very pure and simple soap recipe.

Research took us into a deep dive of ingredients and their benefits. We settled on two shampoo formulas:

Label for a shampoo bar featuring rosemary and peppermint, designed for normal to dry hair, with 'Images In Bloom' branding.

Rosemary Peppermint Shampoo Bar -We use a rich blend of Coconut Oil, Olive Oil, Palm Oil, Almond Oil, Shea Butter, Argan Oil and Castor Oil, blended with the lye and essential oils of Peppermint and Rosemary. Our research tells us that rosemary is a hero ingredient for hair care because it is cleansing, as well as an antiseptic. Some research suggests that rosemary encourages hair growth. While we are loving how our hair feels light and clean we wont make any claims of hair growth. Try it for yourself to see.

Clary Sage Chamomile Shampoo – Clary sage is a beautiful herbaceous scent and when blended with Chamomile the shampoo is light scented, with the same lovely blend of oils and the difference being only the scent profile.

If you are considering switching to a shampoo bar here are some benefits you might consider;

  • The bar is economical and long lasting.
  • Eco-Friendly packaging – No Plastics used
  • The shampoo is effective and leaves hair light and fluffy
  • All Natural ingredients – no chemicals
  • Great for travel and solid soap is tsa approved.

There is a down side to shampoo bars – There is an adjustment period—It can take up to 2 weeks of use of bar shampoo to remove buildup of commercial chemicals in your hair.  During the adjustment your hair may feel a bit dry  or like a coating of wax.  This is caused by your hair reacting to chemicals ( like silicone and sodium laurel sulphate ) found in the commercial shampoo that strip needed oils from your hair and scalp.  Keep going… and as your hair is cleansed of the chemicals you will notice the difference of your hair and scalp.

Consider trying one of our shampoo bars.

As an aside we are working on a conditioner bar, but it is not ready yet.
