Blessings of old and new friends

Last weekend we participated in a lovely little event called “Art in the Barn at Bridge Creek Farm in Auburn, Ohio. We packed out van and drive out there knowing only the honey vendor, but there was a palpable sense of knowing this would be a lovely time. The family that owns the farm were instantly wonderful, kind, and eager to see us set up and ready to be present with the patrons. We instantly felt like we had known them for a lifetime. New friends are good.

As Friday began we kept running into old friends we have not seen for a few years. It was so heartwarming to get to catch up, see how life has gone for them, and see in their face the calmness and peace this chapter of life has brought to them. One friend, a dear fiber artist who gave up her business to start a new chapter after a hard fight with cancer looked so great. And i realized how much i have missed her interactions with me. AS a new artist she was one of the first people to cheer me on, coach me on how to improve what i do. I learned new lessons from her about how important it is to know and have a sisterhood of dear friends that are there with you through thick and thin.

So there we were, tent set up, and i had offered to bring a piece of silk to paint…. But in truth the richness of friendships, and the celebration of where these new chapters have taken them was the biggest blessing. We are so thankful for these little glimpses of wonder and hope.

Here are a few photos of the weekend.
