Behind the Scenes: Designing Unique Soap Labels
Meet the Maker March Challenge – Talk about design details

There is a lot of thought and detail going into every bar of soap. Steve spends time determining the formula for each recipe of soap. The chemistry is a delicate balance of the various oils with botanicals, clay, and lye. Once the formula is determined the soap is made, and put into molds to harden, and cure.
But the next step is to design the label for the soap. We used to buy a ton of scrapbook paper to go under the label on the bar of soap, but while we were brainstorming we saw a new option. Creating new labels that included a pattern behind the white label would make wrapping soap easier. We took a bar of soap and made measurements to determine where the front, and back label should be placed.
Creating the full wrap around label with color and pattern reflects our desire to capture the sense of the soap in the colors and patterns of the label band.
