It’s a wonderful life.
What movies or TV series have you watched more than 5 times?
For perhaps 25 years it was a tradition to rewatch classic Christmas movie es and leading the pack was “Its a wonderful life”. I suppose I have seen it too many times when I could repeat blocks of the lines. But there were so many reminders that life is good, and it would have been so different if things did not fall out as they did. I love how the underdog prevails, and the community rises up to support him. Quietly I have always hoped that would be true.
It’s been a few years since we got rid of our tv, and don’t watch movies any more. What I have learned from a movie less existence is how noticeable themes and messaging are in movies and tv. some of the messages, like that of “it’s a wonderful life” offer redemption, hope and the goodness of community. But there is also a very dark side offering violence, fear and intimidation. This I wish to avoid.
