Tasks
I am participating in an Instagram month long posting assignment to introduce the world to my art, my life and my ways. Its called Meet the maker March.

As you can see we are at March 6th and the only prompt is tasks. I thought long and hard about where to go with this prompt. Honesty is always the best – so i leaned into a note pad and started to list tasks that i do which involve my art, the studio, our business and life. For the purpose of saving time i went a bit generic. If you are a small business owner i bet you can related to the idea of wearing many hats, and having to handle many aspects of the business, even if they are not an expertist. Here is my impromptu list:
- Design packaging for our products
- Help with wrapping our soap (which is the mainstay of our business)
- Keep the books, including balance the check books
- Pay taxes
- Keep our calender and plan our schedule
- Apply for juried shows
- Write and send out monthly newsletter
- Design publicity material
- Buy some supplies
- Buy printing
- Pay studio rent
- Hunt down lost shipments
- Clean the studio
- ah, and finally paint silk!!!
Honestly i am certain i could keep on going with the list. Here is the reminder that some of these tasks are not my favorite – i worked with numbers, accounting, and planning for years and while i am very capable, it takes away from expending my creative other side of my brain. So the short of it is we all have a ton of tasks… some are strengths we relish with great joy. Others not so much.
