hark, its a shark tank funded project

Are you a fan of the TV show Shark Tank?  If you are not familiar, it is an hour long show featuring 5 sharks – people who have made their mark and their fortune in business, and are now making themselves, and their funding available to help others with great ideas.  Most young businesses have need for funding or capitalizing their endeavors.  Such small start up businesses have the opportunity to present their case, discuss their business, and pitch their funding need.

Several years ago I watched a couple visit the show, pitch their idea – “Tom + Chee”, a restaurant concept that involves tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches.  The business began by pitching tents at festivals and sports events and serving warm tomato soup, and crispy grilled cheese sandwiches.  But not just the basics – a wonderful set of options.  Their idea was simple, and appealed to the sharks – it was funded, and it is growing, with the epicenter of Tom + Chee in Cincinatti.

While we were in Toledo we spotted one of the new stores and had to stop.  The menu was vast…. and delivered fast, fresh, delicious.  I agree – its a winning idea, and the store was full of people… many young families eating a meal together.  It was sweet.   And it is amazing to see how an idea and some hard work, with shark money has grown into a great option for a meal.
