Celebrate Cleveland with us this weekend

Images in Bloom is splitting up – and heading in two directions this weekend because in my midlife moment i double booked us.  Both events are within a couple of miles of each other, and each are uniquely worth the v isit.

The Flea Market at Dunham Tavern is a first of its kind event to raise awareness of the wonderful historic 19th century structure known as Dunham Tavern.  This plot of land dates to 1812 when the Dunham family purchased 12 acres for farming, and quickly outgrew their little log cabin, which is sensitively recreated on the property. A larger home was built in several phases, and quickly became the social gathering spot for the Whig party.  It was a natural fit to become an inn, as Euclid Avenue was the main stage coach route into Cleveland.  The Dunhams sold their property just after the Civil War, however it remained an inn for many years.    Dunham has a connection to the art community – it served as lodging and studio space for WPA artists in the 1930s during the great depression.  Thankfully the tavern has stood the test of time, and the rise and fall of Euclid Avenue.  Now a museum, the goal is to improve the greenspace it now sits on.  Along with the tavern and a log cabin are several other buildings, including a large barn that is new construction, and used for rentals.

The flea with be a series of tents set up throughout the gardens… And you will find Steve there, keeping shop.  The vendor list suggests that there will be a number of antiques and collectables, as well as handcrafted goodness.  We will have a strong presence with our soap, shaving products, scrubs, lotions and my hand painted silk scarves.  We are excited to be a part of the raffle as well, and when you stop at the tent you will find the hand painted scarf i did specifically for the event.

Dunham Tavern is located at 6709 Euclid Ave, Cleveland, OH 44103.    Hours are 10a-5pm

littleitaly2016And just down the road, on Mayfield Road in Little Italy Barb will be pitching the tent for the Little Italy Art Fair.  This year the event will be located in the grass area adjacent to the Mayfield Theatre, but we will be offering the same amazing products, and some new 0nes.  Look for us in the space, hopefully very close to the sidewalk…. I will have a few chairs with me… come visit… and celebrate our wonderful city’s diversity.  All of the galleries and restaurants will be open.  Its a great walking part of the city, and so much to explore.  While you are there, you have to visit either Presti;s or Corbo’s bakery, both within a half a block of my location.  Everything is mouth watering and delicious.  (I always wonder if you can gain weight from just sniffing the air? Nah!)

Little Italy Art Fair is Saturday and Sunday, June 4 -5  and hours are Saturday Noon-9p, Sunday Noon-5pm
