Furthest I have traveled?

Share a story about the furthest you’ve ever traveled from home.

It was 2004 and my husband booked us on flights and hotel for 5 days in Hawaii. Short hop from Cleveland to Cincinatti, then a straight shot to Honolulu on the island of Oahu. It was quite a long flight and time change of 6 hour difference from home. but getting there we gained the 6 hours and needed to adjust quickly.

In order to make the best of our time we studied travel books, and plotted everything. And it was glorious. Sunrise on the north shore, a day of bumming the beaches, buying a ukulele, snorkeling at Hanamu bay, and the sober ride out to the Pearl Harbor memorial, where fuel is still bubbling up these decades later. The smell of plumeria, the classic plate lunch, and gorgeous beaches. It was a wonderful 5 days. Then the flight home- several restless babies were not thrilled with pressurized cabins and they kept us all wake for that 10 hour red eye flight to Atlanta. We arrived home at 6am losing 6 hours, and gaining jet lag!

Truthfully I know this is minor in term of distance people have traveled. So many folks I know have traveled the globe… I was always more of a domestic traveler, no regrets, loved that time, opportunity and capacity.

If you can, travel. It’s priceless!
