miss daisy is growing
Yes she is. She is teething and working hard to discover every delicate fleshy part of our hands and faces. It has been an exercise in puppy parenting to teach her not to bite. one day she will be over it.
But we have been trying to figure out what kind of dog she is. She is not a beagle… those lanky legs and the slim body, and the muzzle that is narrowed… so we hit the akc website and started looking at pictures, reading descriptions…
So here is what akc says about the breed:
Right Breed for You?
Toy Fox Terriers are an outgoing and friendly, yet fiercely loyal to their families. They are content and capable of any range of activities from hunting, to obedience, to just lounging around in the sun (or on the sofa). Children especially enjoy the unending energy and zeal for play throughout this dog’s life, but as with all Toy breeds, they are not recommended for small children. Their small size makes them ideal for an apartment, although they love to explore the outdoors. They are easy to groom – a quick weekly brushing to prevent shedding, nail trim, and occasional bath is all that is necessary.
And here is a picture from their website:
and there she seemed to measure up to a smooth coat fox terrier… the mannerisms, the physical likeness, the propensity to dig. OMG – we have a terrorist of a terrier in our home. We love her but there is just a long road of puppy parenting to go for Miss Daisy to become a good canine citizen.
