Saying No!

How often do you say “no” to things that would interfere with your goals?

No comes up often in our business planning. Years ago we labored over a business plan that would keep us on task and allow us to continue to build our business with precision. We learned the benefit of that business plan quickly. Everyone has ideas of what they want us to make, or directions they wish us to head in… and they take us in rabbit trails away from our plan.

That’s not to say everything suggested is not listened to. In our early years we frequently had men ask if we could make shave soap. As we researched we discovered the soap actually had wonderful properties with the aid of bentonite clay. It’s a lubricant, a detox and causes a deeper closer shave. We assembled the recipe and made our first batch 12 years ago- it’s a best seller and will always be part of our line.

We won’t go into detail about the ideas that were an immediate no. But suffice it to say there were many… and their functional virtue was not in line with our business plan..

Short answer- no is an essential word, decision that keeps the business on point. Don’t be afraid to say no.
