Pink Himalayan Salt Soap

Pink Himalayan Salt is such an interesting ingredient.  and it is the star of another new product we are launching.  Pink Himalayan Salt Soap.  Yes, a very gentle vegan soap that incorporates the salt.  Before i talk about the soap i wanted to tell you a little more about Pink Himalayan Salt:

Himalayan Pink Salt offers an intriguing glimpse at mineral packed crystals which formed naturally within the earth. The many hues of pink, red and white are an indication of this salt’s rich and varying mineral and iron content.

The same replenishing nutrients that make Himalayan Pink salt prized in the gourmet world makes it an absolute treasure as a bath salt. Naturally rich in 84 nourishing and skin-replenishing minerals, bathing with Himalayan Pink bath salt is truly a renewing and therapeutic experience for mind & body. This 250 million year old, Jurassic era sea salt is known for its healing properties and is used by health professionals, spas and individuals who are interested in utilizing natural products to heal the body and relax the mind.

Himalayan Pink salt’s vivid pink color is a result of the trace elements in the salt, including energy-rich iron. These naturally present minerals are essential for human health, and can be readily absorbed through bathing therapies. Himalayan salt has long been praised for its healing benefits; and is known for stimulating circulation, soothing sore muscles, helping to reduce acid reflux, lowering blood pressure, and removing toxins.

Our salt distributer tells us that this product is carefully prepared to be in compliance with USDA standards.  As an aside, the product is also Kosher Certified by the Orthodox Union, Himalayan Pink is produced and handled in accordance with rigorous standards and is suitable for consumption under a Kosher diet.

It was last fall when a man came to our booth at a festival, and stopped dead in his tracks when he saw our salt scrubs made with pink himalayan.  He told us of how his skin problems were aggrivating, and that his doctor had recommended he scrub with pink himalayan salt.  He bought a 4 oz jar of our scrub, and within a week was calling us back to ask what other sizes we make.  He had been enduring scrubbing his problem areas of skin with the scrub and within a week had noticed startling results. He then asked if we had tried to make a soap of this salt.  No, at that time we had not considered it, but  that put the research into motion.

Turns out that pink Himalayan salt blends well into a cold processed vegan soap, and with slight modification of a recipe we have been using the  soap turned out rather interesting.

Our initial offering is an unscented version of the soap, however we have found that several essential oils blend well with the salt, and are beneficial for skin.  Here is a picture of the soap.  We launch this soap today at Trinity Cathedral (Cleveland)’s Medieval Artist Market from 2-6pm (Open to the public), after 6pm to  ticket holders of the Medieval Feast only.  Trinity is located at E 22 and Euclid Ave in Cleveland, and parking is on the prospect ave side.
