Mantua’s Art on the Hill

Mantua is a small sleepy rural community in Portage County, south east of Cleveland.  On Saturday, July 12th this sleepy town turns into an art festival with lots of great food, music and fun.  This will be our 4th year participating in the event, and we just love the day.

The tents begin to pop up between 8-9am and by 10am the crowds begin to descend and meander through tents.  Last year we were neighbors to a gal that does bead weaving – a detailed and very skilled art of weaving beads together to create beautiful statement pieces of jewelry.  I admire the work because i do not have the same set of skills to do it.  In previous years we have had neighbors that were stained glass artists, and one year the people who have exclusive rights to gullardi, a local cleveland tv personality of the 1960s.  So we don;t know who will be our neighbors this year, but we do know the art will be top notch, and the day will be fun.

If you want to make a day of it, there are several wonderful berry farms not far from mantua with pick your own blueberries, blackberries, and such.  Why not make it a day!
