My evening in Aurora

Several months ago I was invited to participate in a private home show of 5 artists and several commercial home party representatives. The event was to raise money for a noble cause – sourcing funding to dig wells for the people of Kenya. Africa in many cases lacks adequate sanitation, or readily available potable water. Many of the health and social issues can be reduced by bringing clean water to villages. This family that live in Aurora, Ohio was committed to raising funds and awareness of this need. Mwende Lefler and her aunt organized a brilliant evening filled with wonderful music, good food and exceptional conversation, all centered around an evening to shop, and buy raffle tickets for wonderful prizes sourced out by the family, to include donations from each of us.

Here are a few pictures of the evening…. a lovely home, wonderful vendors, and warm hospitality. The exciting fact is that just one family was able to raise $1,600 toward the project with this one open house event. Think what each of us can do if we become passionate about something, especially in our home town. We could change the world, one family at a time.
