The Mudd Sisters and New Shaving Bowls
Devaney, of Mudd Sisters Pottery payed us a visit and brought a lovely selection of her wheel thrown shaving bowls. And we always oooh and sash as the get unwrapped.
We first met Devaney and Deb at an event at Trinity Cathedral(I think the photo above was from that event). They had set up shop at the next booth from us. As we talked we loved the story of their finding a passion for clay, and their lovely skills while they forged a friendship that has grown into a business. They call themselves “The Mudd Sisters”. Devaney throws pottery on a wheel, as well as makes coiled bowls… I am going to have to photograph my treasured coil bowl for you…. lovely work. Deb makes whistles and ocarinas of clay. She is one of only a hand full of potters in the country that does this… and there is a delicate art to creating whistles from clay. As the clay drys and hardens the sound changes. Her work is whimsical and unique. She will be making us shave bowls that are constructed by coiling clay, rather than throwing it on a wheel.

We have purposed to be committed to buying local for our pottery bowls for shave kits. And there are some very wonderful artisans out there. It is so wonderful to partner with others and enhance our products with the addition of lovely handcrafted things we dont make. The Mudd Sisters Bowls make our shaving kits that much more special… and they are so lovely… beautifully crafted, with rich colored glazes… delightful. So here are a few… And i promise, once we have them made into kits I will photograph them again! We asked for the addition of a handle to the mugs… and we have some of the most amazing bowls around.
