The Bloom Update

This Friday evening you will find us at 78th Street Studios for Third Friday from 5p to 9p.  Located on the west side of Cleveland, 78th Street Studios is a hub of creativity and activity.  Each month features different events, gallery openings, shows and artists.  Stop out and be sure to visit us in Studio 203, home of Jeweler Jeff Dube and ceramic artist Allen Kradlak.

And the Farmers Markets are coming:  Most Thursdays Steve is at Seven Hills Farmers Market, located in front of the recreation center.  We plan to also return to the Vermilion Farmers Market on sporadic Saturdays through the summer.

It is the gardens that are the major theme of the remainder of June: We are heading to the gardens…. not our own, but some wonderful events held in and around  gardens.  Sunday June 21st (and Father’s Day) you will find us pitching our tent on the front lawn of the Shaker Historical Society for the annual garden tour and garden fair.  If you have never been there, the mansion dates to the 1920s when the VanSwarengen brothers ruled economic development, and the homes reflected the grandeur of that age.  We are there from Noon to 5 pm.

And the following weekend we roll out to Toledo, and the beautiful Toledo Botanical Gardens for the  50th Annual Crosby Festival of the Arts.  Set in acres of well manicured gardens will be over 200 artists.  We are very honored to have been accepted to this show with its interesting and rich heritage of art in the gardens.

“At the waters edge” is the new gallery show at The Log Cabin Gallery, opening June 25th in Peninsula, Ohio.  The Log Cabin is a story in itself – bought at a tag sale and rescued from pending destruction, lovingly reconstructed on the bluff above the Cuyahoga River and now a periodic gallery.  Its a must see when you are in the National Park.  The Log Cabin Gallery is located at  1671 Main Street, just west of the river and up the hill.

Help is Needed Now: Do you like our soap?

The bill to make it prohibitive through surcharges and taxes to make handcrafted soap continues through committee.  As a reminder, this is proposed legislation from the office of two California Senators, both highly endorsed by the large soap companies, like Proctor and Gamble and Unilever. Thank you to everyone who has taken action and written their legislators…. If you still have to take that action we would like to urge you to do so quickly.  The legislators are listening, and will respond to constituents letters and correspondence.
